Top Blown Rotary Converter (TBRC)

USED FOR

  • Non-ferrous metal refining
  • Precious metal (PM) recovery and recycling
  • Electronic waste and battery recycling

A Top Blown Rotary Converter (TBRC) are versatile pyrometallurgical furnaces used for refining, smelting, and recycling metals such as copper, nickel, as well as precious metals from WEEE and catalytic converters (PGMs). The rotating cylindrical vessel combined with oxygen or air injection from the top, ensures efficient mixing, heat transfer, and impurity removal.

TBRCs are widely used in metal recycling and refining industries for their high intensity, efficiency, flexibility, and performance.

Rotary Kilns

USED FOR

  • Cement, lime & minerals processing
  • Waste incineration and energy recovery
  • Metallurgical processing

A Rotary Kiln is a mid-to-high temperature furnace used for thermal treatment of materials through controlled rotation and heating. In industries such as cathode active material (CAM) production, battery recycling, and waste incineration, rotary kilns provide precise temperature control, excellent gas–solid contact, and uniform processing conditions.

Their versatility makes them ideal for processes like calcination, pyrolysis, reduction, and material recovery in advanced energy and environmental applications. HW Thermal specialise in the production of rotary kilns from pilot scale through to industrial scale.

Short Rotary Furnaces (SRF)

USED FOR

  • Aluminium and non-ferrous metal melting
  • Foundries and casting facilities
  • Metal recycling and secondary smelting

A Short Rotary Furnace (SRF) is a versatile metallurgical unit designed for high-temperature smelting and refining of various non-ferrous metals. Widely used in the lead recycling industry for processing battery scrap, slags, and drosses. SRFs are also employed for recovering zinc, tin, copper, and precious metals from secondary materials.

Their compact design ensures efficient heat transfer and excellent adaptability to different feed types, making them ideal for modern metal recycling and recovery operations.

Conveyors & feed Systems

USED FOR

  • Recycling and materials recovery facilities
  • Food, chemical, or pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Aggregates, mining and minerals handling

Furnace Feed Systems and Conveyors are custom-designed material handling solutions that deliver consistent, controlled feeding of raw materials into furnaces and process lines. Tailored to each application, systems may include vibratory feeders, screw feeders, belt conveyors, or pneumatic transfer systems, selected based on material properties, temperature, and required throughput.

Engineered for reliability and precision, our feed systems ensure smooth operation, optimal process efficiency, and seamless integration with both new and existing furnace setups.

Molten metal kettles & pumps

USED FOR

  • Aluminium casting and die-casting
  • Foundries and smelting operations
  • Metal recycling and alloy preparation

Molten Metal Kettles and Pumps are essential components in the handling and processing of molten metals such as lead and zinc. Kettles serve as durable, high-temperature vessels for melting, alloying, and holding molten metal during refining or casting operations. Complementing them, molten metal pumps ensure safe, efficient transfer and circulation of the liquid metal between process stages.

Refractory extruders & mud guns

USED FOR

  • Steelmaking and ironmaking plants
  • Foundries and smelting facilities
  • Heavy industrial furnace maintenance

Refractory Extruders and Mud Guns are specialized tools used to maintain and seal metallurgical furnaces and converters. Refractory extruders prepare and deliver high-density refractory clay or mud into batches, while mud guns apply the material to close tapholes and prevent metal or slag leakage from furnaces.

Commonly used in arc furnaces and rotary furnaces, these systems improve operational safety, reduce downtime, and extend furnace life by ensuring reliable, heat-resistant sealing and maintenance under extreme temperature conditions.

Abatement systems

USED FOR

  • Waste-to-energy and incineration
  • Chemical and industrial manufacturing
  • Metal processing and high-temperature emission control

Furnace Abatement Systems are custom-engineered solutions designed to clean and control off-gas emissions from metallurgical and thermal processes. Tailored to each application, these systems may include thermal oxidisers, post-combustion chambers, quench units, cyclones, bag filters, and wet or dry scrubbers to effectively remove particulates, volatile compounds, and other pollutants.

By combining proven technologies with bespoke design, our furnace abatement systems ensure regulatory compliance, cleaner operation, and improved environmental performance for any furnace or process line.
